Community
Individually and collectively,institutions of higher education possess considerable resources-human, fiscal, organizational, and intellectual- which are critical to addressing significant social issues. Additionally, these institutions are physically rooted in their communities. Therefore, investing in the betterment of their immediate environments is good for both the community and the institution.
Partnerships for Engagement Futures

A well-educated student goes beyond books and research. It includes enabling students to develop a strong sense of social responibility. Through community engagment projects, service learning and open forums OU students can construct and connect knowledge as a result of addressing the social, economic and political concerns of their local and immediate communities.

The Univeristy of Oklahoma has a rich history of working with and within the community. To best meet the needs of partner agencies, provide valued community service and to ensure that students have meaningful community engagement, a nonprofit committee was formed to advise the university. In addition to meeting quarterly nonprofit representatives attend Community Engagement Committee meetings.
